Biography

Gerald Coulson began his career in the aircraft industry as an apprentice engineer, after which he served eight years in the Royal Air Force. His next move was to work as an engineer with British European Airways at Heathrow Airport and it was at this point that Gerald took up painting and drawing as a serious hobby. This combined knowledge of aircraft engineering and his new drawing ability took him into the world of technical illustration for service manuals for civil and military aircrafts. Entirely self-taught, Gerald’s painting technique developed and following the publication of a number of his originals his work has become highly sought after. In 1969 his success in the art market enabled him to begin a full-time painting career and a great many of his works have been published as both Open and Limited Edition prints.
