Biography
Born March 1953 Tom Hackney entered the art scene as a professional artist over thirty years ago. He has spent some 10 years working at the world renowned Barber Institute of Fine Arts. There he helped mount exhibitions and under the mentorship of Paul Spencer-Longhurst (Curator) and Professor Richard Verdi (Director) has developed his artistic range. His style is inherently personal evolving over recent years to a mature and passionate engagement with colour and texture. He works with evident fluency in a mixed media format. Tom’s rendering of mixed media on canvas produces an elegant suffusion of colour and texture.. He draws from subconscious inspiration to produce exciting and dynamic works. It is clear that Tom has been inspired by artists such as Pollock and Kandinsky, however his individual originality thunders through, with self evident assertion. The artist spends his time between his studio in Wales and his home in Spain. His quiet unassuming manner belies a wealth of talent and creative imperative.
